Celebrity Katy Perry shocked web fans when she announced that she will stop co-hosting American Idol. The American singer and songwriter has been a judge on the popular musical show for seven seasons. The Firework singer dropped the bombshell on a late show hosted by Jimmy Kimmel on Monday night, much to the surprise of many.
On Monday night, Katy Perry was a celebrity guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! When asked by host Kimmel about how long she would stay on the popular ABC show American Idol, Katy Perry said that it would probably be her “last show” and “last season” on American Idol.
She added that it had “connected” her with the “heart of America,” but she felt a need “to go out and feel that pulse to my beat.”
When asked about what her co-judges, legendary singer Lionel Richie and famous country singer Luke Bryan, had to say about her leaving the show, Perry said, “They’ll find out tonight” and laughed.

Jimmy Kimmel was shocked by the news, and Kate Perry added that they knew she had exciting plans for the year, including performing in Brazil at the Rock in Rio music festival.
Katy Perry elaborated on those plans and said it would be a “very, very exciting year” for all her web fans as she teased about her plans, including seeing the world and maybe bringing “some new music.”
She did not rule out returning to the popular show and said, “Maybe I’ll come back if they’ll have me one day.”
ABC Network confirmed that the famous singer was leaving American Idol. Katy Perry has been a judge on American Idol since 2018 when it moved to ABC.
Katy Perry became popular with the song I Kissed A Girl in 2008. Her last album, Smile, was released over three years ago in 2020. Although her web fans will miss the California Gurlz singer on American Idol, they are excited about her teaser about releasing new music shortly.
