A Conroe ISD transportation employee was fired after a video of him physically attacking a teen student on a bus went viral. He is expected to face criminal charges. A student, who was reportedly at the back of the bus, recorded the incident. Students were alarmed by the assault and posted the video on several social media sites.
Conroe district officials said that they became aware of the video on Thursday. They released a statement on Friday which stated that they became aware of an incident where an employee of their “Transportation Department physically attacked a student on a bus.”
The statement continued and said that they were “disturbed” by the “unacceptable behavior” that took place on the bus and said that the behavior did not represent their “hundreds of hard-working transportation staff.”
The statement also said that the worker who beat the teenage student was “no longer employed by the District.” The statement concluded by saying that the Conroe ISD Police Department had opened an investigation and that criminal charges were expected to be pursued.
The teenager was taken to emergency to treat his injuries. The student, who is 17-years old, was discharged and is recovering. He is in foster care and reportedly lives at a facility that is run by the Department of Family and Protective Services.
Many students of Conroe High School expressed their feelings of surprise and fear on what had happened after the video went viral to various TV stations as well as outlets. The disturbing video has upset many of them. Many parents have also been upset and horrified by the incident on the bus.
The child, who recorded the video from the back of the bus, told ABC13 that he and others had been shocked by the incident that happened on the bus.
