WTA News: WTA roundup: Alexandrova to face Ostapenko in Linz finale

Second-seeded Ekaterina Alexandrova rallied from a set down to defeat No. 3 Donna Vekic on Saturday and advance to the finals of the Upper Austria Ladies Linz, where she’ll meet top seed Jelena Ostapenko.

Alexandrova defeated Vekic 5-7, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (6) in three hours and six minutes. Alexandrova had 12 aces and survived 12 double faults in the marathon match.

Meanwhile, Ostapenko breezed past unseeded Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in just more than an hour, 6-2, 6-3 in the other semifinal.

Thailand Open

Diana Shnaider upset third-seeded Xinyu Wang 6-2, 7-6 (5) in their semifinal match in Hua Hin, and the Russian will face No. 2 Lin Zhu in Sunday’s final.

Zhu defeated countrywoman Yafan Wang 6-3, 6-2 in the other semi to advance to the championship.

Shnaider broke Wang’s serve four times while saving 4 of 5 break points.
