On Sunday, Dwayne Johnson posted the release date of Black Adam on Instagram. The film is scheduled for a July 29, 2022 opening. Sunday’s NCAA game also released a short spot that mentioned the release date.

Dwayne Johnson captioned the Instagram post: “A disruptive and unstoppable force of a message from the man in black himself.” The post had Times Square featuring a visual teaser of Black Adam, “The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change.”

In 2019, the NewLine/DC film Shazam was released. It had two strong characters: Shazam and Black Adam. He is mentioned as a rival of Shazam, though not as powerful as him.

Although Black Adam doesn’t make a physical appearance in Shazam, he is shown briefly wearing a hood and is said to have turned evil. Black Adam is the second film and will be released in 2022.

Most of the star studded cast has been finalized. It goes without saying that Dwayne Johnson will be reprising the role of the Black Adam. Pierce Brosnan has been recently cast in the classic role of Dr. Fate. Aldis Hodge has been cast in the important role of the Hawkman while the Atom Smasher will be played by Noah Centineo. Quintessa Swindell will reprise the role of Justice Society of America hero, Cyclone.

Black Adam will be directed by Jaume-Collet-Serra. He has already worked with Johnson as he is the director of Jungle Cruise, Disney’s upcoming film starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt.

The producers are Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia of Seven Bucks Productions and Beau Flynn of FlynnPictureCo. The executive producer is Scott Sheldon of FlynnPictureCo.

The latest draft has been written by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani. The previous draft was written by Adam Sztykiel.

Black Adam was postponed more than once and finally a release date for the film has been mentioned.
