The Legally Blond star shared the news of their decision to divorce on social media. The star wrote a lengthy post explaining their decision to divorce. She called it a mutual one and asked for privacy.

Although many people including fans might be surprised, there were some who called their impending divorce a badly kept secret. One source indicated that celebrity actor Reese Witherspoon’s hectic work schedule made it difficult to sustain the marriage, although they were reaching their 12th wedding anniversary in a few days. Another source felt that they were splitting as their relationship had become platonic, for a while.

Celebrity Reese Witherspoon posted that they had personal news to share and that they had made the decision to get a divorce after a “great deal of care and consideration.” She describes their “wonderful years together” and said that they were “moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect” and more.

She mentioned that their 10-year-old son Tennessee was their “biggest priority” and noted that dealing with such matters was difficult and that they appreciated people’s respect for the “privacy” that their family needed at this point of time.

Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth announced their engagement in December 2010. The Oscar winning actress and the top ranked executive at the CAA agency got married in March 2011. The wedding took place at her ranch in Ojai, California. Their son Tennessee was born the next year.

The Morning Show star and producer celebrated her birthday on March 22 and posted a slideshow of photos on her social media page and thanked her enormous fan base for their wishes and love. Celebrity Reese Witherspoon was married to celebrity American actor Ryan Phillippe in 1999. They acted together in the movie Cruel Intentions. They split up in 2007. They have two children, a daughter Ava, who is 23 and son Deacon, who is 19.

Representatives have declined to comment on the matter.
