On Friday morning, Good Morning America (GMA) aired an interview with Priscilla Presley. The 77-year old wife of The King of Rock and Roll was on the morning show with Olivia DeJonge, who essayed her role in the biopic Elvis directed by Baz Luhrmann. Austin Butler played the role of Elvis Presley. In the course of the interview Priscilla said that her ex husband Elvis Presley would have approved of the film made by the acclaimed director.

Priscilla said that she was sitting and watching the movie Elvis and was thinking “god, I wish he could see this.” She was commenting on how she thought her late husband Elvis Presley would have reacted to the movie, if he could see the biopic on him. She said, “It was perfection.”

She also said that her late husband Elvis would have “really loved” the movie as it showed “who he was” and what he had been “striving for” as well as “what his dreams were.”

Priscilla praised both the leads Olivia DeJonge for her sensitive and caring portrayal and and described Austin Butler who played Elvis as “just unbelievable.” She expressed her deep satisfaction at all levels of the movie, from the director’s prospective and interpretation of of her late husband’s life to the acting prowess of the stars who played the lead roles in the film.

This is not the first time that Priscilla Presley has praised the film Elvis. In May, she has joined the team who made the film Elvis at Cannes 2022. After the movie received enthusiastic applause as well as a long standing ovation by the audience, Priscilla Presley had hugged director Baz Luhrmann. She had also wiped away tears.

Baz Luhrmann’s biopic Elvis will debut in theaters on June 24. Forty five days later, it will be available on the streaming platform HBO Max.
