Cristiano Ronaldo is well known for breaking football records. The Manchester United player has now broken a social media record as he becomes the first person to have over 400 million followers, on Instagram.

Ronaldo has posted 3242 posts. He has an average like of 10 million in each of his posts. Although he has 400 million followers, he only follows 500 on Instagram.

In September 2021, he had 237 million followers on the social media app but now he has surpassed all others to become the most followed person on the app. This milestone has come a day after he celebrated his 37th birthday. Millions of followers and many friends posted birthday wishes.

The star, who plays for Manchester United, celebrated his birthday with partner Georgina Rodriguez. He thanked his followers for their wishes and posted a message where he compared life to a roller coaster as it demanded “hard work, high speed, urgent goals” and “demanding expectations.”

He added that family, love, honesty, friendship and values make life worth it and thanked everyone for their messages. He signed off saying “37 and counting.”

In an earlier interview, the forward had said that he had felt as if he was still at 30. He also mentioned that he would play in his forties, if possible. The Portuguese icon has a punishing workout and clean and healthy eating habits that have contributed to his fitness.

The second most followed star on Instagram is Kylie Jenner with over 308 million followers while Lionel Messi takes the third position with 306 million.

On Friday, Manchester United lost to Middlesbrough on penalties. Unfortunately for Man United, Ronaldo missed a penalty. The team could not reach the fifth round in the FA Cup.

Now, Ronaldo will have to put in his best to get team Manchester United in the top four for the upcoming Premier League and then aim for the Champions League. The Portuguese forward might just break a few more football, if not other, records on the way.
