Economic growth headline on newspaper

Over the next five trading days, about a third of the S&P 500 businesses are expected to reveal profits. This is the second consecutive week that investors have seen a torrent of earnings reports. Apple (AAPL) (analysis), Merck (MRK) (dividend grades), Pfizer (PFE) (growth metrics), Caterpillar (CAT) (analysis), and Amazon (AMZN) (analysis) are just some of the major reports on the earnings calendar.

The amendment of the Implementation Agreement between SNDL Inc. and Nova Cannabis Inc. is also a significant event that occurred today. The following provisions of the Agreement are modified by the Amendment: SNDL Inc. has been given until December 31, 2024 to complete its purchase of Nova Cannabis Inc. Reduced from $2.4 billion to $1.8 billion, the purchase price for Nova Cannabis Inc. Changes were made to the earn-out clause. The value of SNDL Inc.’s securities may change as a result of the revision to the Implementation Agreement. An extension of the deadline by which SNDL Inc. must buy Nova Cannabis Inc., for instance, may offer SNDL Inc. additional time to carry out the acquisition, which may be seen favorably by investors.

Since April, the Mega Millions jackpot has rolled over twice, reaching over $1 billion and getting dangerously near to new lottery records. Before Tuesday’s drawing, the Mega Millions jackpot is worth an estimated $1.05 billion, with a cash option of $527.9 million. This is the fourth-largest reward in the lottery’s history.

Advertising income sharing program X is now available worldwide. The social media network started its creator revenue sharing program earlier this month for verified U.S. producers, and is now expanding it to creators all over the world. Blue subscribers with at least 15 million impressions in the preceding three months are considered for inclusion in the X user pool.

Yellow Trucking Company closes its doors after receiving a $700 million bailout. The federal government provided Yellow with a pandemic loan, but it wasn’t enough to save the company. In the event of its extinction, the United States’ supply chain could be severely disrupted because it is one of the largest freight trucking corporations in the country.

For internet giants like Microsoft and Alphabet, cloud income is still king. Meanwhile, improved ad sales propelled Meta to fresh post-crash highs.

This is the fastest Amazon Prime delivery in the company’s history. The corporation announced its plans to make same-day and one-day delivery the norm in the United States in advance of this week’s quarterly results report. Amazon is intending to increase the number of its same-day delivery sites within the next two years, demonstrating the success of its investments in its fulfillment and transportation networks.

Juul Labs, a maker of e-cigarettes, is lobbying for the right to sell their “next-generation” vape, which includes built-in age verification features, in the United States.
The suggested vaporizer connects to a mobile app, where users are required to verify their age by providing one of two forms of identification: a government-issued photo ID and a live selfie.

This week, 1,157 companies will release their quarterly results. Some stocks you may be familiar with include AAPL, AMZN, SOFI, AMD, SIRI, DKNG, COIN, SBUX, DASH, Z, AMCX, ABNB, and others.

The earnings reports of Arista Networks (ANET), Yum China (YUMC), Tenet Healthcare (THC), and Western Digital (WDC) will be highlighted on Monday, July 31.

On the 1st of August, investors will be watching earnings reports from Altria (MO), Caterpillar (CAT), Merck (MRK), Pfizer (PFE), AMD, Starbucks (SBUX), Uber (UBER), and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). In his Seeking Alpha article, JR Research noted, “Given relatively pessimistic analysts’ estimates, the market is likely positioned for a disappointing Q2 release for Pfizer.”

CVS Health (CVS), Shopify (SHOP), PayPal (PYPL), Kraft Heinz (KHC), MetLife (MET), Humana (HUM), Skillz (SKLZ), and Joby Aviation (JOBY) will all report earnings on August 2.

Apple (AAPL), Amazon (AMZN), Amgen (AMGN), Anheuser-Busch InBev (BUD), ConocoPhillips (COP), Booking Holdings (BKNG), Opendoor Technologies (OPEN), and Wayfair (W) will all report earnings on Thursday, August 3. “Amazon’s crown jewel, AWS, continued to shine,” said Seeking Alpha analyst Jaime Galvin, “but growth and margins now look to be decelerating sharply.”

On the 4th of August, investors will be paying attention to quarterly reports from Enbridge (ENB), Dominion Energy (D), Magna International (MGA), Nikola (NKLA), and fuboTV (FUBO).

Stocks to watch this week. SNDL, WMT, AMZN, METAGRPNJPMMSFTGOOGLeBayAAPLTSLA, DKNG, HOOD
