GMA3 anchors Amy Robach and TJ Holmes taken off air, following reports of romantic affair

Popular daytime anchors of the spin off of the popular show Good Morning America Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes of GMA3 were taken off air from the popular ABC afternoon show. Last week both of them were seen together romantically and multiple outlets broke the news that they were having an affair. Although their alleged affair is not against company policy, the decision was taken for the sake of the GMA brand.

During an internal call on Monday, Kim Godwin, president of ABC News told staff that Holmes and Robach would not be hosting the 1 p.m. show. Godwin reportedly said that the alleged affair was a huge “internal and external distraction.” She added that the hosts would be taken off air as the network figured out how to handle the situation, although it didn’t violate company policy.

On Monday, Stephanie Ramos and Gio Benitez took the places of the regular anchors and said that Holmes and Robach had taken the day off. The network has not provided any information about the anchors who will host the show for the rest of the week, as yet.

Sources close to the anchors said that the affair between Holmes and Robach began in August, after both of them had separated from their respective spouses: T.J. Homes from lawyer Marilee Fiebig and Amy Robach from celebrity actor Andrew Shue though the affair might have begun as early as Spring, according to some rumors.

Last week, on Wednesday, the Daily Mail had published photos of both of them linking hands and more. The couple was reportedly seen together across New York City. On Thursday and Friday, both the anchors appeared on GMA3 without mentioning the rumors of their romance.

When the Daily Mail contacted an ABC spokesperson, the person was reportedly surprised and Holmes didn’t corroborate the tabloid’s allegation. Following which the Daily Mail went ahead with the explosive story. The outlet also reported that T.J. Holmes allegedly had an affair with another staff member in the past.
