Authorities in Mexico’s Baja California state are currently investigating a violent incident that occurred during an off-road vehicle rally, resulting in the deaths of 10 individuals and the injury of 10 others. Disturbing videos circulating on social media captured the intense gunfire that erupted during the rally in an area of Ensenada, with at least three lifeless bodies visible on the ground.
The event organizers expressed deep remorse and claimed no responsibility for the tragic incident, stating that they were as perplexed as everyone else and extended their heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families. The shooting took place on Saturday and prompted a swift response from the army, navy, as well as state and local police, who mobilized to the scene.

According to Baja California officials, the assailants in a vehicle initiated the gunfire, targeting both individuals and vehicles at the rally. The state prosecutor, Ricardo Iván Carpio, revealed that the vehicle used by the attackers exhibited gunshot perforations and contained traces of blood. Furthermore, evidence of crossfire indicated a confrontation between rival criminal groups.
The suspects remain at large, and their identities have not been disclosed. Baja California Attorney General Ricardo Iván Carpio released a statement confirming that the getaway car showed signs of being hit by bullets, suggesting that the assailants were also wounded when the rally participants retaliated. Inside the vehicle, bloodstains and bullet holes were discovered.
Initially, authorities reported that the victims were all in their “dune buggy” style race cars when armed men suddenly emerged from a late-model SUV and began firing at them.

The incident occurred in the town of San Vicente along the Transpeninsular Highway around 2 p.m. The race, known as the “Cachanillazo,” had commenced earlier in the day in Ensenada and was set to finish in San Felipe on the Gulf of California.
Various videos shared on social media depict a woman running into a building while gunshots echo in the background. The investigation into this tragic event continues as authorities work to apprehend the suspects and bring them to justice.
