A party official from the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party DFL is calling for tougher laws on crime after facing a carjacking in front of her own home, this week. She posted a selfie showing her injuries and wrote a detailed post about her ordeal, while asking for criminal laws to be strengthened. The official had earlier posted on dismantling the police department in Minneapolis about three years ago.

On Wednesday, Shivanthi Sathanandan, who is the second vice chairwoman for the DFL posted on social media about her ordeal when she was car jacked by four young suspects. She said that she was bruised all over and had “rage.” The incident took place in front of her four-year-old daughter and seven-year-old son on Tuesday at about 7.25 p.m.

She added that the “men” knew what they were doing and described it as “Killing mothers” and “Giving babies psychological trauma” that could not be eased by therapy and also said that they did not hesitate nor did they show remorse.

In her long post the young mother also said she would not be silent after becoming a part of the statistics and called for getting illegal guns off the streets and for holding young people in custody and prosecuting them.

Sathanandam’s post also asked people to remember her when they offered support for juveniles and young people to be let out of custody and also said that young people and juveniles needed to be held accountable for their actions instead.

In 2020, Sathanandan had posted against the police and wrote “We are going to dismantle the Minneapolis Police Department” and more. After the carjacking she thanked the “incredible” Minneapolis Police Department for helping her in the terrifying experience she went through.

According to KSTP-TV, a Minneapolis Police Department report said that the suspects had abandoned Sathanandan’s vehicle and it had been recovered. There is no information available, as of now, about the suspects.
