A well-known ranking and review site has come up with the best place to live in the country for 2023. This year’s listing from Niche compared millions of resident reviews with information from the U.S. Census, FBI, Bureau of Labor Statistics, and CDC to rate 17,932 towns and neighborhoods.
At number one is Chesterbrook, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia renowned for its excellent educational system. According to Niche data researcher Cortland Reed, the local Tredyffrin-Easttown School District ranked No. 2 in the state and No. 27 overall this year. The University of Pennsylvania, Swarthmore, Haverford, and Villanova Universities are just a few of the schools that are close to the suburbs. Chesterbrook received poor marks for affordability and weather, despite having good ratings for housing, education, and resident reviews.
The second-best is Colonial Village, Virginia. The Arlington, Virginia, locality takes third place because of its proximity to esteemed universities like Georgetown University, Arlington Public Schools, and the neighborhood public school system. Another Pennsylvania neighborhood, Ardmore, rounds out the top three and, according to Reed, “looks a lot like its neighbor, Chesterbrook.” It is also the eighth-best location to raise a family in America. It has earned high marks in all categories except weather and affordability.

The fourth place goes to a lively area of Tampa, Florida, though it is noticeably farther south. One of two communities from the Sunshine State that made the top ten is the more urban Hyde Park-Spanishtown Creek, which is located a half-mile west of the Hillsborough River and empties into the now-famous Hyde Park.
Penn Wynne, another Pennsylvania neighborhood that is in the Philadelphia region and is situated only a few miles from the other suburbs has made Niche’s top five. It received A’s across the board, with the exception of nightlife and variety.
According to Niche, Santa Monica’s picturesque City Center is the sixth-best location to live in America. Another waterfront location, the historic Massachusetts town of Cambridge, came in seventh. On the eighth place was another Florida locale called the North Quarter District. It starts at the city’s bustling downtown’s northern edge and continues to the quieter Ivanhoe Village Main Street District. Devon from Chester County also advanced from outside the Top 100 last year to claim the ninth position, breaking into the Top 10. According to Niche, Great Neck Gardens on Long Island is the tenth best place to reside.
