Celebrity stars Jenna Ortega and Christina Ricci bond over Wednesday Addams role

On November 23, a new series Wednesday was released on Netflix. This led to a sharing of bonding moments between celebrity star Jenna Ortega who plays the new Wednesday Addams in the series that is currently on the streaming platform and Christina Ricci, the iconic Wednesday Addams in the 1991 film, The Addams Family as well as the 1993 follow up “Addams Family Values.”

The young Wednesday Jenna Ortega told E! News, “Playing Wednesday as a teenager—I think we had that conversation a little bit later.” Ortega also told the entertainment outlet that she had appreciated how the celebrity star had related to many of the struggles or interesting challenges that had “made the job more fun or exciting in certain aspects.”

Both the Wednesday Addams also had something else in common. Both Christina and Jenna “are a bit dry.” This made the conversations they had a fun game.

Both the stars seem to have made the Wednesday Addams role iconic in different ways. Ortega said, the times have changed so the role also had to evolve and she has created her own spin on the role, with iconic bangs.

Tim Burton’s Wednesday has most of the classic elements of the storyline but the writers have added a backstory that was not a part of the much loved Addams family originally.

The new Wednesday Addams has traces of a Nancy Drew character, of course a spooky one, instead of the original Nancy Drew. Christina Ricci also returns to the cult classic and plays the role of Marilyn Thornhill, in Netflix’s Wednesday.

Jenny Ortega’s Wednesday Addams is a good detective as well as pursues a writing career. These different nuances are used by her as an emotional outlet as well as a way in which she come to terms with her relationship with her mother.

Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday is a more nuanced character as she is around 16 and is in high school while Christina Ricci’s Wednesday Addams is 10 -11 years old.
