Lara Trump leaves Fox News as paid contributor to help father-in-law Trumps’s presidential campaign

Lara Trump has often appeared on Fox News and was also a paid contributor, till the recent past. Lara Trump, who is the wife of Eric Trump and the daughter-in-law of Donald Trump recently said that she would be involved in Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign making it a foregone conclusion that she would leave the network whose policy prohibits contributors on the network after they announce that they would campaign for public office.

On Saturday, as first reported by the LA Times, Fox News released a statement that said that they “appreciate Lara’s valuable contributions across Fox News Media programming.” Lara was hired in spring 2021 and has amicably left the network. However, she can appear on the network as an unpaid contributor.

Earlier, founder Rupert Murdoch had said that he was not in favor of Trump running for the third time. The network has been muted in its criticism of the former president who was once a favorite on its news but print outlets such as The New York Post and the Wall Street Journal have not only criticized Trump but have also written favorably about a potential conservative rival Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is increasing his popularity in the GOP.

Lara Trump has not appeared on Fox since Trump announced that he would make a bid for the 2024 presidential elections, on November 15.

This is not the first time a contributor has parted from the Fox network after a campaign announcement has been made. In 2021, former White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders left her role as contributor on the network after she announced her bid to run for governor of Arkansas. She won the election. Sarah Huckabee Sanders had joined the network, in 2019.

Although Lara Trump is not directly running as a candidate, she already announced that she would be running former President Donald Trump’s third presidential campaign and has amicably stepped down from her paid role as contributor in Fox News.
