The FBI announced in a statement that four Americans are missing after being attacked and abducted from a car in Mexico by unknown armed individuals.
LaTavia Washington, a resident of South Carolina who had traveled to Mexico for a cosmetic operation, was one of the four victims of the Mexico kidnapping. The group rented a van to head down to Mexico.
Two U.S. Americans were repatriated to the United States, and the bodies of 2 other U.S. citizens slain in the same incident were also retrieved,” said Ned Price, a spokesman for the State Department.
Governor of Tamaulipas Américo Villarreal stated that at least one individual has been detained in relation to the deaths of two American citizens. The governor stated that the individual was a 24-year-old. He said, “surveillance functions of the victims” were being performed by him.
Outside of Matamoros, Mexico, a “wooden home” was where the four kidnapped Americans were discovered. The governor reported that two of them were still alive and two were not.
According to Special Agent Oliver Rich, who oversees the FBI’s San Antonio Division, the Americans came under fire from the men soon after crossing the border through Matamoros on Friday, in the Tamaulipas state, across from Brownsville, Texas.

Mexican authorities reported Tuesday that two of the four Americans who have been missing since their blatant and violent kidnapping last week after entering Mexico have been found dead and two have been recovered alive.
After confirming two Americans were killed, Tamaulipas Governor Américo Villarreal said one of the two survivors was found injured and the other unhurt.
According to Irving Barrios Mojica, the state attorney general of Tamaulipas, both survivors were sent back to the United States. Mexico military Humvees, armored vehicles, state police, and the National Guard on trucks with mounted.50-caliber machine guns accompanied a convoy of ambulances and SUVs. It wasn’t immediately known if the deceased’s bodies had been brought back.
Travel warnings have been issued for United States citizens traveling into various part of Mexico.
