Finland PM Sanna Marin has recently seen quite a few upheavals in her life. Despite being one of the most popular millennial leaders worldwide, the young leader of the Social Democrats and the world’s youngest prime minister when she assumed office, faced opposition for partying and for her economic policy, was ousted from the role as she lost her reelection bid last month. On Wednesday, she announced on social media that she and her husband of three years were jointly seeking a divorce.

Politician Sanna Marin and businessman and former professional footballer Markus Raikkonen have been together since they were 18 years old. They have a 5-year-old daughter Emma Amalia Marin.

Sanna Marin will soon step down as Prime Minister of Finland as the center-right National Coalition Party emerged as the victor in the April elections in Finland and will assume power.

Sanna Marin was 34 years old when she became the Prime Minister of Finland. In 2022, a leaked video showed her partying, and this did not go down well with certain sections of the electorate, although she remained popular with young moderates. Her government’s financial policies were also reportedly rejected by the electorate. She had publicly apologized for the video last year but has lost the recent elections and will step down in fall to make way for the conservatives in Finland.
