The first portrait of King Charles III by famous British artist Alastair Barford has been released and is commended by many. King Charles wears a pinstriped suit in a deep shade of blue and an indigenous bracelet on his wrist. This portrait was completed without a formal sitting as the artist studied the King at a Buckingham Palace reception held in February. It will be featured on the front cover of The Illustrated Coronation Edition, to be released for sale on March 30.

Artist Alistair Bradford attended a reception that was held in support of global biodiversity. He observed King Charles III at work. He also used photos and sketches from the event to complete the portrait of the monarch. He added a subtle nod to the King’s interest and advocacy on climate change as well as sustainability in the portrait; by adding an indigenous bracelet worn by the king.

The bracelet was presented to King Charles at the February 17th global diversity reception. Domingo Peas, an Amazon indigenous leader, presented the bracelet to him. The bracelet is dark in color and has a gold thread. It can be seen on the King’s left wrist. The bracelet appears beneath his watch in the portrait.

The portrait has been released in time for his first official state visit to Germany, after the King postponed an earlier visit to France. King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla are currently in Germany.

Artist Alistair Barford has also painted a commissioned portrait of late Queen Elizabeth II, earlier. His portrayal of the beloved queen of the UK had received high praise as experts felt that he had captured her likeness to a greater degree when compared with many other painters.

The British artist released a statement on his portrait of King Charles II. Bradford mentioned that he “wished to capture his warmth and sensitivity, the empathy which came across in his interactions with the people he met.”
